MBio Diagnostics Announces Issuance of Two New Patents

-- New patents cover system level innovations incorporating LightDeck® technology --

Boulder, CO, February 18, 2016 – MBio Diagnostics, Inc., a company enabling a new era in rapid, on-the-spot clinical diagnostics and sample testing, today announced it has been awarded two additional patents. U.S. Patent No. 9,212,995, entitled “System and Method for Detecting Multiple Molecules in One Assay,” and Japan Patent No. 5,844,644, further extend the scope of the company’s LightDeck® technology. These patents cover key innovations for integrating MBio’s technology into a highly functional multiplex testing system.

The MBio testing system combines a portable, easy-to-use multiplex reader with a low-cost disposable cartridge that together can provide multiple results in 1 to 20 minutes. The embedded LightDeck® waveguide technology enables sensitive fluorescence detection using CMOS imagers and diode lasers. This system enables on-the-spot testing across multiple applications, from medical and veterinary diagnostics to water quality testing. MBio recently announced a license of the technology for food safety testing.

Commenting on the patents, Chris Myatt, CEO of MBio, said, “Our approach allows the integration of the core waveguide technology into a low-cost, high performance system for multiplex testing. It also highlights the engineering capability at MBio to adapt our core technologies to specific applications. These patents will support our efforts to broadly license the MBio technology across a number of applications.” MBio Diagnostics is executing a strategic initiative to license its technology and partner with companies who are experts in their application space.
